Collective Worship

Coming together to celebrate and reflect is at the heart of the daily rhythm of our school.  Our rich musical tradition sets exceptionally high standards; we are continually amazed by how the children respond to this challenge.  As a result, worship in Horfield is rooted in the musical tradition of the Church, both ancient and modern.  We have a dynamic and deep partnership with Horfield Parish Church; the Clergy lead weekly worships and are respected and familiar figures in the school.

In addition, we welcome visitors who bring their own experiences of other Christian traditions and world faiths into school.  Our Prayer Space is a partnership with Ebenezer and other local churches.  We celebrate important cultural markers such as Remembrance Day and Earth Day.  We aim for children to leave Horfield with a deep appreciation of all faiths and the positive roles they have in the world.

For more information about how we put Christianity at the heart of our school please visit the Christian distinctiveness page on this website.

Prayer Space at Horfield School

What is Prayer Space?

Did you know that Horfield School has a dedicated Prayer Space?  We are really proud to offer a dedicated space for children to reflect and pray.  The Prayer Space is on the second floor of the school, close to the Year 4 classrooms.  It is open to children of all faiths and none as a place to spend time thinking or responding to questions.

In 2016 the School Association generously offered £500 to make Prayer Space an even more vibrant and attractive room for all children.  A parent, working with children from our Collective Worship Council, used her incredible artistic skills to make it a place that feels calm and inspiring.
