School Meal
Meals are free for all of KS1 and anyone in KS2 on Free School Meals. They are also available to purchase for all other
KS2 children at the normal cost of £2.90 per day.
Children can choose each day whether to have a hot school meal, salad bar or bring their own packed lunch.
Chartwells provide our meals on a daily basis and cost £2.90 per day. All the meals are nutritionally balanced following strict Government guidelines and consist of a main course, vegetarian or salad option, a starchy food such as potatoes or rice, a portion of bread and a dessert or fresh fruit. All the meals are produced from fresh ingredients each day including freshly baked bread. All meals contain at least 2 portions of the recommended 5 a day fruit and vegetable target.
The Menu is on a three weekly rotation - please see the menu below.
Allergies & intolerances
Chartwells will accommodate children with allergies or intolerances. Remember you must complete a special dietary form for Chartwells. Please come into the office and speak to either Ms Gilbert or Ms Choi who can liaise with our cook.
Halal
All of Chartwell's Halal meals are produced in a dedicated central production unit. Again, you can speak to the office for more information.
Chartwells provide a Salad Bar option for the children. Children can choose one protein item - ham, eggs or cheese; a selection of dry salads, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers; rice salads or coleslaw to have with a wrap or bread and a dessert, all for £2.45! This is a popular option and if your child would like to try it they'll need to let us know during the usual morning registration, eg School Dinner, Packed Lunch, Salad Bar.
School dinners must be paid for in advance by using School Gateway online, in cash or cheques (made payable to "Schools General") in a named envelope on a Monday morning.
Healthy Eating
Healthy eating could hold the key to a long and healthy life so we have a link below to an established website called "Nutritionist Resource" which provides easy access to nutritional advice from professionals. They offer information about the areas in which nutrition might help and articles written by qualified nutritionists.
